More than just a great name…
in watchmaking, this signature evokes that spirit that prevails in the workshops of Le Noirmont. A keen sense of the aesthetic, a perfect mastery of the watch-making art, a sure and precise touch, and an expert eye; all are part of the secret that explains the originality and perfection of Paul Picot watches.
Paul Picot was born in 1976 with a desire to safeguard the rich watch-making tradition of Switzerland, highlighting its origins and guaranteeing its authentic values.
This period in time found the Swiss watch-making industry in grave crisis.
The old world watch-making skills were forgotten, skilled craftsmen went largely unrecognized, while the enchanting atmosphere of the small wooden workshops was downgraded and obliterated by the onward march of factories.
The re-discovery of the immense artistic and cultural heritage of the watch-making tradition is the philosophy that animates the Paul Picot brand.
Paul Picot’s watchmaking is the genuine expression of accomplished art.
For Mario Boiocchi…
founder of Paul Picot, it was essential to re-vitalize the rich heritage of the craftsman watchmaker known in the XVIlI century. At that time, each craftsman built his own watches piece-by-piece and created unique timepieces reserved only for aristocrats and rich bourgeois.
The demand for watches increased between 1700 and 1800 in France, then in England, Holland, and Switzerland. In those countries, craftsmen who specialized in watchmaking were numerous but their production was limited to only a few units per year.
As time passed, their names were quickly forgotten and none survived the introduction of industrial production.
Among all those watches and names, which are immortalized today, Mario Boiocchi chose Picot.
